Getting ready for a new season

As the days are getting shorter and we slowly move towards fall, our kitchen is buzzing more than ever. We’ve had lots of fun at farmers’ markets and playing with the amazing BC fruits and berries (cherry clafoutis, apricot and blueberry flan, almond flour cake and tarts, raspberries for charlottes, Yspahan and tarts…) but we’re looking forward to a new season with new products coming out of the kitchen and the return of some of our favourites!

We are now serving homemade soups, 2 different types every day with at least one vegetarian! They will be accompanied by a slice of our homemade focaccia bread. As everything else in the store, we make the soups and bread from scratch with only natural ingredients, no artificial flavouring or preservatives. They are available from 11am until we sell out.

Our $9 lunch combo has now 2 options: “savoury” (1 small soup and bread + veggie quiche or ham & cheese croissant + pop or bottled water) or “sweet” (1 large soup and bread or quiche or ham & cheese croissant + dessert up to $4.50 value + pop or bottled water).

First soups are:
– Chicken noodle
– Split peas & ham
– Creamy broccoli
– Leeks & potatoes
We use our own mix of spices and herbs as seasoning. Our soups are super flavourful and quite filling! Check our Facebook page or visit the store to hear about what will be coming next!

By mid- to late September, you should expect to see Mille-feuilles (Napoleon) and Opéras again in the display case. Macaron line-up will be renewed (although don’t worry we’ll keep our best sellers Earl Grey, Salted Caramel and Pistachio!) and, with apple season starting, we’ll bake apple turnovers and caramelized Tatin tarts.

Markets and shows:

In September and October, we’ll still be selling at a few Farmers’ Markets (Kerrisdale, Trout Lake, Ladner, Kitsilano, West End), check out the dates here. In November, only Nat Bailey Stadium market will be open in Vancouver on Saturdays. We’ll know our schedule there by the end of September.

On Remembrance Day week-end (from Thursday, November 8 to Sunday, November 11), find us at the Croatian Cultural Centre for the super cool “Make it! The Handmade Revolution” craft show!
